Driving Associates,
Please familiarize yourself with California's Clean Truck Check Program and how this will impact you. It is vital that we work together to ensure all equipment is compliant and avoid hefty fines. Please read the following important points, and watch the video message from our VP of Shop Maintenance, Steve Collins.
Beginning in January of 2025, California’s Clean Truck Check Program takes full effect as enforcement begins. Most of the Knight fleet – including owner-operators – will have an electronic/OBD emissions test due by the end of an assigned month, then again 6 months later. This will continue each year afterward on the same schedule for each individual truck. Tests can be completed up to 90 days before the due date.
We are completing these tests in our shops, and we will complete tests with telematics support as soon as it’s available. A vehicle will be considered non-compliant in California if this test is not completed and on record with California by its specific due date.
Vehicles not completing this test on time will likely encounter denial of entry into CA and/or any port or rail facilities within CA. Additionally, violations or citations that may result from non-compliant operations in CA could produce fines of up to $2,000 to $5,000 per day, per truck.
Therefore, it is important to get each test done before the assigned due date; and if not complete, that truck CANNOT go into CA until that test is done.
I would hope that a dm and shop can work those clean air checks in with the A or B service intervals .
